Bought this to play a movie at a party for my daughters and their friends. For what it is, it’s PERFECT.It had “ok” Brightness. In the dark it’s fine. But any amount of light distorts the image. But it’s not a dealbreaker. For the money, well worth it!Onboard speaker is nothing to wright home about. I’d suggest using something external. The provided AUX port makes that a snap! It was definitely a hit Among the kids and adults alike!I have to admit, I am impressed. I bought a similar projector from wish a few years ago for the same price and it was a horrible product. The image was grainy pixilated and not good quality. It really made me think long and hard before purchasing.However Amazon and this brand of projector really blew me away. Its true 1080p, image is crisp and clear. In the dark the image is plenty bright but in a room with any low light it gets dull fast. Since I use this in my bed room shining on the ceiling before bed, the brightness isn't a big factor. The speaker is good enough but a dedicated sound speaker is superior as in nearly all projector systems. I use a JBL speaker with an Aux Cable. I use a chromecast hooked through the hdmi and the onboard USB for power. My only nitpick is lack of CEC control, so the chromecast can't shut it down but that's only available on higher end projectors.For its value I can't complain this is such a huge improvement from that Wish projector, and I can say confidently it can almost rival my higher end laser projector in my theater room and that cost over 1k.Update 8/2022: upon 2nd attempt, I was able to increase the volume to more than sufficient with an external speaker.(*If anyone's curious, I think the difference was in connecting the speaker before powering the projector.)The picture is very good, impressive even - I recommend adjusting settings to your desire. Sound is fine on the projector (also adjust settings in menu), except the highest volume is barely sufficient. When using an external device (such as phone) you can adjust volume via the device but it's still the same max volume. Even with an external speaker, we could not increase it to our satisfaction (and we know speaker is capable of being much louder). If you're in a quiet environment it is sufficient, but background noise or conversation could easily drown it out.I was looking for a smaller projector to “replace” my 2015 BenQ model projector and came across this one. As soon as I got home I connected my Roku to it first. It didn’t work and I couldn’t t figure out why until I did a bit of research to find a post that stated using a usb drive to power it up worked for them, so I disconnected the Roku and then connected my 4K Fire stick to it along with a usb drive, and it worked. I was kinda impressed with the picture quality but then noticed the left side of the projection wasn’t even with the right (from top to bottom). In other words, the picture size was lopsided. I moved the projector around several times and adjusted the keystone and focus, still didn’t get better. In a pitch black room, the brightness wasn’t what I expected either. The sound quality from the built-in speaker was pretty good so I assume it would’ve been much better had I connected it to my mini stereo system with subwoofer which is perfect for movie night when you don’t want to generate too much sound but still get that theater effect. Anyway, my 2015 BenQ is far better than this “2020 upgraded” version of a projector. Returning it is a no brainer for me. Better luck next time?I really wanted to write a 5 star review regarding this projector, but IT STOPPED WORKING! Not only that, but a dark spot developed on the screen about a week ago along with a loud grinding noise upon start up (it would eventually resolve, but still). Only bought it a few months ago (April), not much information or help from the manufacturer (Amazon doesn't have their information linked for any further assistance), only their "chat now, call me" feature, which I'm sure will tell me to contact the manufacturer. ? Very frustrating. ???UPDATE!I Contacted Amazon: though the CSR did ask if I tried to reach out to the manufacturer (sigh), and explaining that there's no information regarding how to contact them, they offered to either replace or refund. I'm giving one extra star for their customer service in trying to resolve the issue, but still... the projector that I replaced was a total P.O.S. refurbished one from Groupon for LESS THAN $100, and THAT lasted longer than this one that costs MORE THAN $100. Could I watch movies/TV during daylight with this "improved" one? Yes. Is the image quality 100x better than the cheap one I bought? Yes. Did it clap out on me like the crappy one should have? Yes. Should I probably just save my nickels and dimes and just invest in one that will massage my feet and burn my retinas? Probably. Buyer Beware...Tried connecting this to an iPhone and it was difficult because we needed to adjust settings on the iPhone for it to work properly. Despite finally figuring out how to change settings on the iPhone, some apps/streaming services won't project. No issues with connecting our Samsung devices or laptop. It worked right away.I set up a pull down, 80 inch, projector screen and put the projector on a camera tripod to test it. I soon found the best location for the projector and learned to use the menu options to adjust the picture and sound. In a darkened room, the picture is bright and clear. The sound seems weak until you select the 2nd setting which is one of the surround sound options. I connected the projector to a DVD player and used the adjustment rings on the camera lens; one for focus and, the other one adjusts for the angle to get a square image that is well focused top to bottom. I was soon captivated with the home theater experience. There are more expensive projectors with more advanced features and better optics however, I must say that this projector is well worth more than the price. If you need something more, buy it. I intend to leave mine set up and ready to use for at least another 29,999 hours.
